Numbers for Good is a social investment business that designs financial solutions for organisations tackling social and environmental challenges.
Numbers for Good was founded in 2012 by Bertrand Beghin and Dominic Llewellyn and is a BCorp. The company’s vision is for global financial markets to serve people and planet, and our mission is to bridge the worlds of finance and social and environmental impact.
Numbers for Good helps charities and social enterprises become investment ready and raise investment. We work with public sector commissioners, corporates and investors to design and implement innovative financial products. We are currently a team of eleven people, with a diverse mix of experience from the finance, charity and social enterprise, consulting and policy making sectors.
Numbers for Good is seeking two individuals to join the Board as non-executive directors. Board members are expected to:
- Demonstrate commitment to Numbers for Good’s vision and should understand the challenges of working appropriately and sustainably with its partners and clients.
- Challenge the Executive Directors and other staff to ensure that Numbers for Good’s aims are being met effectively and within agreed risk parameters.
- Promote Numbers for Good and become advocates for the company’s mission and values.
The time commitment for these non-executive director roles is expected to be the equivalent of six days per annum, which includes quarterly Board meetings in London. At present the non-executive directors are not remunerated, however it is the intention of the company to introduce remuneration for non-executives as the company grows and its finances become more sustainable.
Non-executive directors will be appointed for an initial term of 4 years, and may serve no more than two terms of office.
Numbers for Good would welcome applications from interested parties for the role of nonexecutive director. Candidates should have knowledge of the social investment sector, sympathy for growing and scaling a business, and an understanding of the importance of sustainable financial models for the charitable, social impact and profit-with-a-purpose sectors.
Skillsets that are currently of interest to Numbers for Good for the non-executive director roles include:
- Finance, especially capital raising for the social sector
- Public sector commissioning
